Due to technical difficulties (the camera ran out of batteries and I don't have any on hand), I won't be able to post the Week 31 belly pic. In exchange, I will have to post this internal belly pic so you can see exactly how the baby is sitting for Antoinette. Sorry about that.
Anyway, for the little guy, most of his growth has already been documented this week, so we'll wrap up the week with discussions on preparation. Over the next four weeks, beginning this week, Antoinette and I will begin to layout our game plan for labor/delivery. That includes packing emergency clothes, toiletries, and even DVD's (there's a player in the room). We'll also plan for the baby, as Antoinette bought the little guy's first outfit to wear home from the hospital (next week's pictures). We also will be buying our car seat so that we can get him home, since they won't release him without a proper one in place.
Also, a strategy for getting her to the hospital from anywhere in the city within 35 minutes will be on the drawing board. I think you all have a pretty good idea of my personality, so you can imagine that we'll have a plan in place for every possibility I can come up with. Antoinette doesn't know this yet, but we'll take a few dry runs from the house just to make sure the plan is sound. She'll find out soon enough.
We are also going to develop a contact tree system to use to trickle the word out to everyone when the baby is born. What we'll do is try and set this up where we can make a list of everyone that needs to find out about this baby's birth ASAP and then try and put together a calling tree where we call no more than 10 people. Then those 10 people each call 3-5 people, who each call 3-5 people, who each call 3-5 people, etc. If the calling tree plan works, we'll only need about 3-4 levels of calling to get the word out to over 500 people within 24 hours. If you don't get a call, then the calling tree broke down somewhere. Of course, if any of you have ever played the game of telephone in 1st Grade, you realize that by the time you hear about the birth, the person could be calling you to tell you that my Uncle Terry's car broke down in Las Cruces. Oh well. If the call is about me and you get it around April sometime, you can bet its about the birth of our baby boy.
