Week 7 Update

With week 7 almost in the books, the new baby is in the process of major changes on a number of fronts. Over and above the changes already mentioned, we've also got eyelids, a tongue, permanent kidneys, and a pituitary gland developing in the middle of the brain. The trunk of the body has begun to elongate and straighten as the fetus begins to take the shape of something looking a touch more human that in previous weeks. Spleen and liver ducts are forming and the intestines have begun to extend. Key components of the brain has gone into development overdrive, such as the cerebral cortex.
