12 Hours to Gender ID...

Its 10:45 PM on Thursday and tomorrow morning at 10:45 AM, we are scheduled for the ultrasound that will tell us what we are having. A baby boy or a baby girl? Speaking of the baby, he/she has reached a point where the sensitivity to the outside world will have increased dramatically and the baby will begin to make its presence felt with the first of what will be powerful kicks and pokes from inside the uterus. Antoinette has felt some bubbling sensations which we have read could also be the baby, but again, we are not positive.

The bones in the inner ear continue to harden and the ear canal, the nerve endings, and the brain section that processes signals from the ear are all continuing to get stronger daily. The baby can hear Mom's heart beating, familiar voices (maybe Dad's voice?), blood rushing through the umbilical cord, and other daily routine muffled sounds. This is the first week the baby will become startled from abrupt or unusually loud sounds outside of the womb. They say we can hear the baby's heartbeat with a stethoscope now, which luckily my nurse wife possesses. We haven't tested this out, but I'll let you all know when we try.

Anyway, at this time tomorrow, Antoinette and I will probably be making some decisions on a baby room, working on baby names, and updating this blog so that you all know what we are having. The votes are in. For family and friends, 60% of you say we are having a boy. For crazy websites and kooky Chinese calendars, 55% say we are having a girl. For Mom and Dad, Antoinette says boy and I say girl. Before long, we shall see. Good night. Tomorrow's a big day.
