Billy's organs and other systems are rapidly growing. His body is absorbing sugars and water now. The baby is loaded with red blood cells and this week, he begins producing white blood cells in abundance. Those are the cells that make up a key component of the immune system and that fight off intruders in the body. The baby's sense of taste is expanding as taste buds begin popping up all over the tongue. Antoinette can feel the baby quite a bit now. She can fairly easily tell when he's moving and when he's not. This week, I was able to feel a little, faint kick myself. And see it, which was much weirder. He has even begun to yawn for the first time.
REM sleep begins for my son, which can mean dreaming perhaps, or what an unborn child can pass off as dreams. Brown baby fat is beginning to fill out the baby's frame, which explains his rapid growth. The result is the baby is able to retain some of his own body heat for the first time.
Enjoy the belly pic and Happy Thanksgiving!!!
